Ok so all this talk about docking stations has me thinking I only need 1 computer /cry. One question I have is how is the gaming on the external monitor?

The gaming on the external should be identical to the internal display (the GPU doesn't care). You should set your notebook to external display only (turn off the Laptop LCD) to maximize performance.

The only possible consideration would be resolution. If your external display has a higher resolution, and you run the game at native resolution for the external display, it will have a lower framerate.

Basically Id plan on running 2 24in lcds off the dock if I were to go this route, and both would be at 1920x1200. Gaming on the other hand would be done at the same settings I have set for my internal LCD (medium 1440x900). Basically I game in windowed mode so it would be on the primary LCD and only taking up a small portion of the screen.

If you use two monitors you will have to use the displayport and as well as the VGA port.

the mini dock comes with a dvi and vga, I would use both as analog.
