    I got a thinkpad edge E40/14" from China for 3800 yuan ~=380euros

    Here are the specs:
    Intel pentium 2GHZ dual-core
    HD integrated graphics
    2GB RAM
    ~300GB HDD
    14" screen
    RW optical drive
Pirated Windows 7 Ultimate (Didn't get that on purpose, but am going to use mostly Linux)
Matte screen (Processor dropped from i3 ~2.5 GHZ because of that)

I just want to know if it's a good idea to go shopping there later on.

    Thanks in advance,

    Valmancer

I don't really have a sense of laptop pricing in Europe, but that doesn't look like a brilliant price to me. You probably could have had a new Edge (with legit software) for not a whole lot more.

it is okay, this is the superseded model. But in China with grey imports, the price of laptop is usually higher then in the US, but lower than in the EU.

These OS less machines are usually obtained through Enterprises whom purchased them in bulk. Also you should check the warranty and what not, which would also tell you which country it is from.

As mentioned, you can't compare laptop prices in China with those in the US. Often, it costs more for a new laptop in China with last-gen components than it does for a new, more powerful laptop in the US. Ironically, most of the laptops sold in the US are made in China or Taiwan.

So, with that in mind, I think you got a pretty fair deal.
