I have a feeling there is are significant people out there waiting for Vista pre-installed. So, the question is once this happens will OEMs end there discounts or will it be like holiday season again with everyone trying to get as much of the pie as they can?

Likely you'll see discounts on machines that still have XP installed on them. Who will want to buy a laptop with XP instead of Vista once that hits? But I don't see a huge price war for Vista machines. Remember, processor prices are very low right now due to the Intel / AMD war and they won't go lower.

I certainly agree on parts, but the "deals" are significantly lighter than Christmas time. Perhaps discount bundled with Vista Upgrade that you install? Well this one only has about 2 weeks till uncovered.

there is no price war on the Core 2 Duos intel is charging whatever they want. AMD Turion is only competing on the low to mid range.
