Mines came with a Core 2 and Vista Basic.
-
I don't. Some do.
-
I keep all of mine and regularly wax them to make certain they look brand new at all times. I asked for extra stickers when I made the purchase—you know, to replace the existing ones when they wear out, and they do wear out—but the sales representative REPEATEDLY TOLD ME they DO NOT PROVIDE extra sticker packets .
How lame, right? -
I tear them off .
-
I don't remove any and I even add some more
-
I removed them. With my old laptop, I learned the hard way that plastic discolors with long term exposure to air. If stickers are removed later, they leave a noticeable splotch of discoloration - so, I remove them all so my Thinkpad is nice and plain black.
-
I don't like the way they feel when resting on the palm rest, so i always remove them.
-
Removed. Its easier to remove in the beginning.
-
Mine have been on for almost a year. Think I should try to get rid of them or has it been long enough to create the discoloration? It is black after all, should be pretty hard to discolor.
I only noticed discoloration on a Dell I owned years ago and that was because it was silver. Normal usage over time discolored that palm rest very easily. It actually looks like it has hoof marks now. -
removed.
-
Maybe the people who like the stickers (besides Micosoft, Intel and Lenovo) like that stock-car racing look. -
I just removed Windows one for test on my X61s. And it isnt good. There is still some sticky glue on the palmrest.
To be honest, this is ridiculous that you have to work really hard with this, instead easy removing just like with Energy Star logo, which I removed on my X200 tablet because it wasnt prefectly in line...
Im not going to remove stickers on my X200T. Becuase I guess it wont be easier ...
Who should we blame for this ? Lenovo, Intel, Microsoft ? I know that Lenovo got paid for putting this stickers. But why they are so b*$&#s to remove?!
Cheers -
Without the stickers, the thinkpad looks like a business machine, and it looks even more sleek than it already is.
The energy star was easy to take off, the centrino and vista basic logos are not. Any idea on how to take it off? -
I leave my stickers on, but if you remove them and see traces of sticky residue left over, try using dabs of Isopropyl Alcohol to dissolve the sticky residue. I tried using warm water before but that didn't work, but when I found out that I can use Isopropyl Alcohol for this it worked like a treat.
-
Damn it, after removing the centrino logo, it leaved a gummy mess. The vista basic didn't.
-
Great I scratched it. This is terrific. Is this panel easily replaceable?
I removed the residue but it's still sticky. -
Yes, the panel is easily replaceable if you buy a new one.
I just took mine off. No discoloration.
Used a cue tip dipped in some aftershave, since I didn't have any isopropyl lying around.
Made it smell like the Axe Effect. I wonder if it'll attract hot female laptops now. You know, the pink kind. -
I remove the stickers as soon as it comes out of the box and have never had a problem removing the stickers and the goo. Just grab one corner with your fingernails and s-l-o-w-l-y peel it off. Most of the goo will come off with it, and just dab the rest off using the sticker itself. Then rub the spot with your finger, and there should be no trace left.
-
On my T61, the Vista sticker's outer coating peeled `til I was left with a blank silver sticker. Removed it. Left the Core 2 sticker; Intel's metallic stickers tend to be high quality and don't degrade too easily
The ones on my T400 (Vista and Centrino VPro) have stayed nice so far, so I left them, though I may take the Vista sticker off again. The adhesive comes off nicely with a bit of Goo Gone.

For parts look here - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/s...=/partslookup/partsLookup.vm&sitestyle=lenovo
Sorry to hear that you have trouble with it, the Isopropyl Alcohol usually works for me (minimum is 99% purity). I usually give it a couple of rubs in circular motions then wipe it off with some moist wipes that does the trick for most sticky applications for me. -
When I go through that parts page, I don't see the part. I went here instead to order it: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70429
It will be shipped overnight. Any idea when I will get it? I put some "I love Jesus" stickers over the gumminess so that my palm won't stick. The centrino sticker must've been there along time cause it had so much gunk. I hope the new palm rest does not have any stickers. I put the centrino, vista basic, and the energy star logos on my calculus book
Also, I tried to add the part number 44C0690 for the travel cover into my shopping cart and it said that part did not exist. I would like a travel cover too but anyone know the part number? -
-
You know every sticker you leave on gives your laptop a few MHz boost!
j/k I remove all of mine as soon as I get it. -
I tore them off as soon as I got the computer. I remove everything that isn't part of the computer. I feel like the stickers make the computer look cheaper.
-
though i don't have my laptop yet, i plan to take my stickers off too. those things can get nasty after a while
-
To those of you afraid of the sticky residue:
Begin peeling from one corner, whichever one you can get loose first. Then, gripping the corner with your fingernails, pull the sticker off very very slowly, watching the gluey adhesive. As you pull off slowly, the adhesive tends to want to stick to the pad more than the palmrest. If you see that some adhesive is starting to be left behind, stop pulling and start from the opposite corner, and then, when the sticker is completely off, use it to try to pull the leftover adhesive off the laptop.
I've been doing that for several different computers, and it's never failed. No sticky residue -
I don't mind stickers on laptops, but only on the palm rest and underside. For example TVs, the stickers on the bezel come off instantly.
-
I took them off and relocated them to the inside of the battery bay. It makes for a much cleaner looking laptop (the palmrest also feels more natural when it's uniform).
-
I remove all stickers as soon as I got my laptop. The palm rest area looks much cleaner without the stickers.
-
I've left them on all laptops I've previously owned or currently own, but most probably I'll remove them from the new W700 I'm getting. My current HDX has 4 stickers:
1) Warning about serious injury (it's transparent, so you can only see the text, which I never fully read)
2) Intel
3) Vista
4) NVidia
The good thing on this one is that they're so far to the right that my hands actually never go over them, so they're still clean -
i removed my stickers so i get better cooling.
temps have dropped 1-2C. -
I took it out of the box, removed the stickers, used a paperclip to open the CD tray, placed a Windows Vista Ultimate disc inside, then powered it up. My typical new machine routine...
-
I ordered the palm rest saturday morning. Their website states they ship parts overnight.
On my confirmation email from IBM, it says to call a number for checking the status but when I called them on Sunday, their systems are down. I don't have any shipping info. Do you think I will get it tomorrow? -
if you chose overnight shipping then it will ship on monday and you will receive it on tuesday. -
Ah. Do you know where to order the travel cover for the T400 directly from Lenovo? I tried their part number and it says it doesn't exist? -
if you're referring to 44C0690, i suggest calling the IBM maintenance parts department direct and inquiring. the website isn't always 1:1 with the inventory database.
their number is 800-388-7080. select options 2/1/1 to get to the parts sales staff.
they work monday-friday, 9-5 eastern. -
Does anyone use keyboard covers? If so, which one? Does it cause any heat issues and how easy is it to install?
-
One of the main reasons of having a thinkpad is the awesome keyboard. A keyboard cover would completely make that moot. If you just want to keep your keyboard covered well stored though use a microfiber cloth.

I peeled the home basic sticker off, but the new Intel Centrino logo is nice, so I kept it.
-
I've always done it for my previous computers but forgot to do it for my x200, until now. The problem with new laptops is that I don't want to remove them
until the 30 day return period is done.
Anyway, I removed all 3 with no problem just now. It's about 2 months old and there was no residue or discoloration. The 2 on the palm are pretty stiff, but I used my fingernail -
Removed the intel sticker, the silver paint somehow wore off......
Removing the vista one now, the sticky stuff seems easily removed by rubbing it.. -
no, i leave all of the sticker on my machine. can't be bothered removing it. while in the process of removing i might scratch the body work.
-
When I called that number, the automated message says that the parts maybe "new or refurbished" and the sales rep confirmed it. Is there any way to actually know if the part is new or refurbished? I just don't understand why they can't offer new parts like Dell and HP. -
i just answered your question in your other thread.

All stickers come off, regardless of manufacturer or device, shortly after receiving the device (I give it a couple days to account for any DOA/dealbreaker issues)
-
The Vista Basic sticker came off ... going to install Win7 Pro eventually anyways.
-
I only have the Centrino 2 and Energy Star stickers that came on mine. Since I just got it, I will probably keep them on for a month and then I'll take off the Centrino one. I kind of like the Energy Star one on the lid, but I might end up taking that off too.
-
Removed all. I was lucky not to have that huge sticker on the lid, just a couple of small ones on the palmrest.
Looks more homogenous and a bit more professional.
Do you remove the stickers from your thinkpad?
