I think I have never read the manuals and documents in the plastic pocket that came with the new Thinkpads--just threw away most of the papers that I have kept without ever looking at. I suppose this poll will indicate most are like me

I tend to give the manual a good once over for any electronic or similar device I purchase. In fact, I tend to try and read the manual BEFORE I make a purchase (i.e. I download a PDF version) so I fully understand the features before committing any money.
I also hold onto them for my records, but I far prefer PDF versions in the event of a problem (much easier to search, and because I have a tablet I can view them full screen and the experience is very similar to printed paper). -
Sometimes/when having problems, or when it need to active some function

I do it in case I have to replace a part or something or if I'm really bored.

Another question: do you keep the original boxes of thinkpad? I thought it unnecessary since in case you need to send it in for repair they'll provide a box, nor does it add any value when you resell your thinkpad?

Those boxes are great. I got one when I was sort of just asking them about some concerns. So I just got a free box full of foam . It is actually pretty hand because you can break the foam into pieces.

read it once to figure out what the lights and symbols mean
now i'm not even using the OS that came with the system! -
Do you read the manuals/documents at all?
