Do we know if T500's 128GB SSD supports the TRIM command?

I am considering getting a T500 with the 128 GB SSD option. I cannot find much information on who makes the drive or its model so I don't know if it supports the new TRIM command to improve drive's performance once it gets some use. Also is it a SLC or MLC?

I would like to know whether the T500 that now come with Windows 7 still support switchable graphics (when ordered with discrete video card) as I read Microsoft does not encourage this in Win7.

When in doubt, assume the worst. MLC, no TRIM support.

By the way, TRIM is not as great as you might think (because the SATA committee, in their infinite wisdom, decided that TRIM should not be a tagged command).

It's most likely a Samsung MLC drive. However, they might give you a Toshiba MLC drive too.

It will certainly be an MLC drive, and at that size, will be from Samsung or Toshiba.

Yes, it will support switchable graphics. A few users have had a bit of trouble with the Windows 7 drivers though, in that after resuming from sleep, both graphics chipsets will be on, using up a lot of power - for the moment, this is easily fixable by switching the graphics and then switching back.

Thank you for clarifying about the graphic cards.

Will try to remember and post any findings on the TRIM support when I get the laptop.

I may be wrong but I've heard that the G2 supports TRIM and the g1 does not.

Renee, you're referring to the Intels, which come in 80GB and 160GB sizes. Samsung has yet to update their SSDs with TRIM.
