After reading all the reviews, I thought I would probably buy a Lenovo Y430 or Y530. I went to Fry's Electronics to look at them in person, but I didn't really like the screen quality all that much (I thought most Toshiba models had clearer, better screens).
Now the Lenovo site has the new Y450 and Y550 models, and it describes the screen on the Y550 as "a high-end Full HD 16:9 widescreen panel for a true cinematic experience". The old Y530 model shows 15.4 WXGA TFT 1280x800. The Y550 shows 15.6 HD LED 1366x768.
Does that mean that screen quality will be a lot better? Since CompUSA and Circuit City are gone, only Fry's carries these in stock. If the screen quality really will be better, I'll wait, but otherwise I'll get a Toshiba.
I've noticed the screen quality of the Apple laptops is very good, but I prefer a PC.

Since they haven't shipped any yet (to my knowledge at least) no one can tell you for sure. But ideally, because it is an LCD backlight display, it should look better than the previous model which I believe was not. From what I've seen in other notebooks, this makes a huge difference. So, if I were you (and I'm in a pretty similar situation), I'd wait it out until some reviews show up and then make a final decision. The Y450 and Y550 both look like excellent laptops/deals.

But wait, my Y530 has an LED screen... According to the guide that came with my laptop.
Do the Y550 and Y450 have better screens than the previous models?
