or do i need just the wireless lan driver? i have a intel pro wireless lan card, but in my device manager, it shows 1394 net adapter / Intel 82566m gigabit network connection/ intel pro-wireless 3945 abg network connection...

    are these all seperate drivers?

    1394 net adapter = firewire

Intel 82566m gigabit network connection = ethernet

intel pro-wireless 3945 abg network connection = wireless

You need drivers for the last two.

because they're 2 completely separate devices (wireless card vs ethernet). ;)

You don't need it unless you want to connect to the internet using an ethernet cable. It's best to have both the ethernet (LAN) and WiFi (WLAN) option.
