Since the outlet items are pre-built, shouldn't they ship sooner?
And by the way what's the actual shipping time for x200/x200s?

I have no idea but I [sarcasm] love [/sarcasm] how impossible lenovo makes it to search for what you want in the outlet store. The educational discount store is the same and a rip off compared to their regular public discounts.

That is something I don't understand about Lenovo. They should fire their web designer for Europe as well, you can NOT customize your laptop there. You have something like 30 options, and what you want might or might not be there. If it's not, tough luck.
Even better, when you have the list with the 30+ options in front of you, all you can see are very basic options like screen size. The details like CPU speed etc are not listed so you have to click on every one of those options to see if what you want is there. Incredibly poor design compared to, for example, Dell's website (and many others, I use Dell just as example).
It's a shame that good laptops like Thinkpads are not sold more because of "little things" like these. -
The two outlet orders I placed for notebooks (an X61s and X200t) arrived within a couple of days, fore or aft, of the originally provided shipping date. I've also placed three accessories orders (Two 1 GB Lenovo pen drives; an X60t sleeve; and an 8-cell X60t battery) that were delayed and, in the case of the sleeve, misdirected and lost for a week. My experience, then, is mixed. I'd still purchase from the Lenovo outlet, but I no longer have the expectation of flawless, expedient order processing, delivery, or order accuracy.
Now, there are other experiences, such as this one, that Mr. Ken Fox, a long-standing and very well respected member of the thinkpads.com forum, provided that may well scare you off from the Lenovo outlet. I'd say that shipping experiences are in line with Lenovo's retail operation (the Lenovo Outlet store is operated by Channel Advisor, Inc., as published here) and experiences vary. I'd utilize the Outlet's advanced search feature, try to find what you want--new or refurbished--and see what happens. I'm linking to Mr. Fox's experience to show the hit-or-miss nature of shopping the outlet store. There's also a thread here at NBR in which people relay their experiences with the Lenovo outlet. Again, experiences seem mixed.
I'm happy to answer any questions you may have, if I can.
Cheers,

I ordered on a Sunday and on Monday when I called they had no record of it in the system. Late Monday afternoon I received an email that it would ship in 9 days from Monday. It actually shipped on that Thursday (same week) and I received it on Monday. So to sum it was 1 week from order to receive.
What nuts me up was that I traveled from Monday thru Wednesday and was not home to get the UPS shipment. Since Lenovo led me to believe I wouldn't receive it until later I made no arrangements to have someone available to sign for package. (Lenovo ships with signature required instructions)
Eventually after the first attempt to deliver, I had to scramble and change the delivery to a hold for pickup at the local UPS office.
If Lenovo had been more accurate in their information this all could have been avoided. They try to play it safe and give you the worst and deliver the best.........
The outlet store lappies come from China and then are delivered via UPS when they arrive in the states.
P. I really am digging this X200 (upgrade from a x60) so much cooler and quieter.
I would do this deal again (why would you buy brand new when the outlet stores lappies appear to be brand new and much cheaper) but I would take all the ship dates, etc with a grain of salt.
hope that helps. -
Ordered a scratch and dent battery three weeks ago. Still haven't heard a peep from Lenovo. I called twice. They keep telling to try again in a few days as they can't find my order. As a result I can't cancel it. I'd order again, but I can't be sure they won't send me two batteries, which I don't need. When I ordered my CTO R60, I got it in about a week and a half.

It varies - but in my experience it does take a while and estimated shipping dates do get pushed back from time to time.

Service sucks, it got here before they posted a tracking number. Calling they will provide you with a tracking number but the first day that they have the number it will not work. Basically expect it 2-3 days after they mark it shipped on the order status. You will have to call to get your customer number as they don't give it to you in the email.
Stickers where mounted badly on my X200 but other than that and missing the extra track points it seems like it was a good deal. I got exactly the configuration I wanted just by being patient. -
for me, took me 4 business to receives my outlet notebook.. i live in CA 94132

My order went real smooth. After placing the order online I got an e-mail message 5 or 6 hours later that the order had shipped. The tracking link to the carrier actually worked. I had it in 4 days.

Can you check the serial number of the outlet product before buying?
-
You don't trust Lenovo?

Do Lenovo Outlet orders ship sooner than the new (regular) ones?
