    Do I need the recovery partition in my T500?

    For whatever reason my computer might mess up or something, would I need this partition or even recovery disks if I prefer clean installing W7 instead?

    No, but in the event you ever need to sell your computer in the future, you would want to have recovery disks (and probably a factory install) on hand.

    If you already have recovery disks no. If not, make them and wipe the partitions. There is no need to keep them after you have the disks, in fact some partitions will only burn one copy.
