Hello, I just got a T61 and am verifying my firmware and drivers, I have the FRU 39T2687 24/24/8/24X CD-RW/DVD COMBO II DRIVE and am not having any success finding the info on what the latest level of firmware is for this drive.

In my machine it is listed as HL-DT-STRW/DVD GCC-M10N and has a current firmware level of 1.02

Does anyone know where to look for any possible updates for this drive?

I'm still trying to find my way around the Lenovo/IBM support site.

    Thank you!

I would suggest only updating the firmware if you are experiencing issues of any sort (i.e. with burning DVDs).

I actually can't burn DVDs anymore and would like to if updating firmware would help. But can't find anything on the site, even though I thought I saw something a few months ago.

What happens when you try to burn a disc?

Nothing happens. It just does nothing. No error. The computer doesn't know there's a problem. Whether it's CDBurner XP or the built-in Windows burner, it just "burns" forever, (I've waited over 2 hrs for a DVD that would normally burn in 10 mins) and there's no progress.

How about running PC Doctor to see if it passes or deleting the ide drivers. Windows will install them when re-booted.

You know, I erased the drivers before, and it didn't work. (It failed PC Doctor too)

Then, I tried it again, and IT ID!

It's writing right now, anyway, while before it would just still with no error. Any chance it could be the DVD media (tried a new disc type at work not the one at home) or have you just completely saved me?

    Thanks!

Yes, I completely save you. I suggest you not forget it.

Low quality media can sometimes be an issue.
