Do I BUY it? (ThinkPad R51--$1000)

There is a big deal for IBM R51.(Model name: 1836Q7U ) around $1000. But I don't know if I need to buy it. I know the T series is much better the R series. But the price is so good for me.

I am a student in Computer Science.I use the computer to write code and surf the Internet. but not a lot of games. R51 has a 15 screen, nearly 6.6pound weight. So it's a little heavy for travel from home to school. Most of the time, I write code and do my school assignments.

So could u give me some suggestions ?Do I take the big deal offer or not.Especially, for my personal situation.

hey, it's a *huge* help if you post the specs...we love notebooks but we don't have all the skus memorized [ ;)]

i did the legwork and find it hard to believe $1000 is correct for what you say

    http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=8745973&storeId=1&langId=-1&categoryId=2585862&dualCurrId=73&catalogId=-840

it's $2K from the ibm store, and if you can get a machine like this for $1k then heck yes go for it. The R series has a great quality build still and although it's not as thin and light as the T series and you can't configure it with top-end specs, it's still a great notebook especially for students and those that could use $ elsewhere (ahem, books!)
