I recently put windows 7 on my T61p, and I have 2 problems:

1 No audio line-input despite putting in the latest driver I could find: Vista_Win7_R255_x64.exe
as well as doing the tricks to try to make the line-input show up in the recording properties.

    2. The computer won't stay asleep despite shutting off the wake on mouse in Windows 7
3a. Led Sleep indicators often do not work sometimes.

Btw, the windows 7 battery manager is garbage compared to the Windows XP one. We can't even change the power level without letting the computer load the program, which must be huge. In windows XP, you could just right click on the task bar. In window 7 it takes 15 seconds to change the power level!

Forgive me for my lack of diplomacy, but what marketing idiot redesigned the battery manager?!

I think you've been had by some other software you've installed.

Clicking once on the Windows 7 default battery icon in the tray results in an immediate balloon window which allows you to change profiles. Are you instead talking about the IBM power utility?

Second, and along the same lines, the AC97 driver that ships with Win7 should be absolutely fine for your audio input -- I've got a T61p at work that does not experience your stated issue. However, that too may be linked to some garbage IBM driver that you're using.

And finally, sleep. This too is likely related to a driver power management setting somewhere; I'd go looking in device manager under Properties -> Advanced -> ALlow this device to wake the computer for all the obvious external devices you can think of.

I think your problems are far more about IBM's nonsense rather than some underlying issue with Windows 7.

Well for the sleep issues, just do a:

    command prompt

    powercfg -lastwake

that will tell you what woke the system last and then you check update the drivers for that device.

Here you can see from mine:

    Wake History Count - 1
    Wake History [0]
    Wake Source Count - 1
    Wake Source [0]
    Type: Device
    Instance Path: ACPI\PNP0C0D\2&daba3ff&1
    Friendly Name:
    Description: ACPI Lid
    Manufacturer: (Standard system devices)

Obviously that shows that i opened the LCD on my system and that's why it woke.
