Thinking about getting a T500, is there anyway to convert display port to hdmi with audio?
-
They sell video boxes that you can input DVI and regular audio and it outputs HDMI.
-
hmm, any idea how much?
-
Not sure, sorry.
-
if the T500 supports audio out of the Displayport just get this:
http://www.startech.com/item/DP2HDMI-DisplayPort-to-HDMI-Cable-Adapter-Converter.aspx -
Or a 4826 from www.monoprice.com.
-
since they are both digital signals and carry uncompressed audio - it should be easy to transfer between the 2!
-
i know that the t500 wont produce audio from the display port, i was looking for something that took displayport and regular audio (audio out), and merged them to a hdmi connection.
-
Does the W500/T500 have SPDIF optical out via the front headphone jacks though? It would suck if no audio via displayport and no optical out.
-
I don't think it has a SPDIF...and if you were to take analog audio out and intend to put it into a digital signal for HDMI (combined with the display port digital video output) that would take some sort of converter box. I think it would be easier to get an expresscard sound card that has a digital out (and just attach it via coax or spdif).

ok now im hearing that the t500/w500 supports audio over displayport, any one with a display port to hdmi adapter able to confirm?
-
i have the t500 with the display port adapter from monoprice. i'm not able to get it to pass audio.
would be nice if someone could figure it out, but for now i just use a USB -> spdif adapter that i bought for $50. it is the behringer uca202 -
is there any setting in the graphics options that states anything about audio over displayport?
