    Displayport to HDMI cable UK, around 3 metres.

    Hi. Looking for a cable rather than an adapter, which I think is a neater solution, but there are precious few on the market and some don't pass audio.

    This one seems to be fine but is a bit to short for my needs:

    DISPLAYPORT TO HDMI CABLE DISPLAY PORT 1.8 METER: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

    Anyone know of any longer ones available? 3 metres would be ideal but either side of that would be okay too. Preferred price is up to about £15.

    Is this what you are searching for?

    The alternative would be a DisplayPort to HDMI female + a standard HDMI cable.

    That's not possible, since you linked to a Mini DisplayPort cable. Lenovo only uses the full-size DP connector, so that cable will not work with Thinkpads, including your T420s.

    Yes, you see the statement 'DisplayPort v1.1 Does not support audio' a lot. Maybe it's just a disclaimer to cover the seller just in case you don't get audio. Because it also says:


    'Note: While DisplayPort connectors are capable of passing an HDMI signal, DisplayPort and HDMI signals are basically different and not compatible with each other. In order for this cable to function properly, you must have a DisplayPort source device capable of producing and passing out an HDMI signal through the DisplayPort jack'.

    The DP-HDMI cable for my T420 does not transmit audio to my Syncmaster.
    I guess experience varies.
