Hey Everyone,
I did a search and read the sticky and didn't find anything related to what I'm about to ask. I have a T410 and out of nowhere started having display issues, which I'm pretty sure are due to a messed up graphics card at this point. I plugged it into an external monitor and there was no display, however everything else seems to still be working. I've had this laptop for 18 months now and didn't purchase an extended warranty because I thought it would have easily lasted me much longer since my previous laptop was a 7 year old Gateway that I used similarly and still runs, in fact it's the computer I'm using now.
I don't know how it happened since it was working perfectly fine the day before, my question is at this point, if it is the graphics card, NVS3100m, is it still possible to repair/replace at a reasonable price or would I just be better off buying a new PC? Are there any possible cost effective ways to repair it?
I copied and pasted my parts lookup below and will try to get a picture up of what the display looks like. Thanks in advance for any and all help that anyone might be able to provide.

edit: It turns out that my external display is working, reason I thought it wasn't working was because initially I thought it might be a software issue so I reformatted and didn't update display drivers. I've heard though that just because the external display is working doesn't mean anything because they use separate feeds, does that mean it might just be a connector and not the display? And if so how can I check?

bump... any help please?? I think I narrowed it down to the cable that plugs into the LCD, I tried finding the part number but haven't been able to, does anyone know what the part number or name for that cable is called?

I'm not clear on the issue. The laptop LCD panel works but an external LCD panel doesn't via the T410 VGA port?

does the displayport on the Thinkpad work? also is this an switchable optimus graphics card model?

jcsny,
Based on your "edit" saying the external display does work, you don't have a problem anymore right? The feedback, or handshake I'll call it, is embedded in the DP interface. So if you're seeing stuff on your external monitor, I think you're good to go. Nothing else to worry about.
