trying to get into the secondary portrait mode during tablet mode and keeping on getting this error message.
what configuration is it that's stopping me from using secondary portrait mode?
thanks

so what error message did you get exactly? We can't see the link or the screen shot of the error message.

is there a more technical lenovo forum out there?

Instead of me making a new thread, I will have to revise this one.
Has anyone figured out how to have the extended battery on the left hand side, while having the tablet in secondary portrait mode? For the life of me I can’t get that orientation, which would be best for me since I can hold the extended battery while in secondary portrait mode. -
I still yet to solve this problem, and there aren't enough people with tablet on this forum.

Koke_24: I have made a thread in the tablet forum, check this thread. Hopefully it will help us to solve this issue.
Janel: that place is a ghost town, no body goes there. -
warakawa, do we have the same problem?
I can do secondary portrait mode in one direction, just not the direction that places the power cord/express slot/Ultra Connect at the bottom of the orientation. There is certainly more than you and I that have the x200t on this forum, and several that also have the x201t. So if they don’t have this problem, they can at least post and tell us something.
OMG!!!!???
I just turned the wireless radio off, and now I’m able to use both portrait modes! Holy Cow!
So it must have something to do with the wireless, because when I switch it on I cannot use one of the portrait modes. I bet it has something to do with that wireless dingy (ultra connect) that protrudes from the display, maybe it disables that mode by default because it can’t broadcast?
It's cool with me, because I can turn the wireless off when reading or taking notes in School. -
Glad you worked it out. On the X201T at least, it specifically says it can't allow the orientation with the wireless enabled.
edit: wireless = WWAN, not wifi -
Are you serious?
I've looked everywhere, and nothing on the web or on the computer told me this was not possible. Now you tell me, that your x201t will tell you the orientation is not possible while wifi is enabled?
I'm glad I figured it out, but I would have rather known about this a lot earlier than now, LOL! -

I’m kind of slow, so work with me. You’re able to just disable WWLAN, and leave your wireless radio on and use secondary portrait mode (power connect at bottom)? I can live with not having wireless on, but it will be better if I’m able to surf the internet and be in that particular secondary portrait mode. So is it something you had to do in the BIOS? I’m not using a SIM card, so I don’t have anything that will enable or allow settings to the WWLAN. Fn + F5 will show 802.11 wireless radio and Bluetooth on or off options, nothing else. -
Ipad doesn't have this problem, lenovo really stuffed up on this one.
Most of the time when I am using tablet mode I am also connected via wwan. -
After further experimenting, I can have any secondary portrait mode I want while wireless is on! I have to first get into the secondary portrait mode with wireless off, then turn wireless on and it stays in the position while surfing the internet and whatever else I do.
I would like to thank this wonderful forum for all the support it provides, and I’m now a really happy camper! -
Did I mention that I hate the way the Access Connections tool works?
And why does it take so long on an i7-620LM / Intel X25-M G2 to launch the Thinkvantage Tools? The first time around it takes longer than it does to launch Word, Excel and Outlook sequentially...
Edit: I finally got wireless back up again and can confirm that it does, indeed *not* give you the error message when you have just Wifi on. -
Has there been an update for this that I'm not aware of? I've been surfing the web, watching ESPN3 and doing other stuff with my notebook in secondary portrait mode (extended battery to the left), and realized I was doing this while holding the notebook with my left hand without cradling it!
Now that I'm aware I can do this, man does it make a difference!!!!
This really makes me a happy camper, and I can now put away the cell phone. -
I had this issue a LONG time ago, but it has not been a problem for as long as I can remember.
I can recall reading at some point that Access connections was programmed to prevent you from using secondary portrait with wireless enabled. This might have been a consequence of a regulation due to the radio/radiation fields involved (there's no technical reason why it can't work). I remember that manually killing one of the access connections related processes would allow you to make this work (however, I can't remember which one).
Display cannot switch to secondary portrait with this configuration?
