I have a T60 on Windows XP. Often when I resume from my screen saver my resolution changes from 1400 by 1050 to 1024 by 768 and I when I log in I need to change back the settings to 1400 by 1050. This happens about 33% of the time and it is getting pretty annoying. I have been sure to keep my T60 updated, but it still occurs. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance :).

Just a guess here, but you might be using a screen saver that forces a lower resolution.

Have you tried different screen savers to make sure it's not just that one single screen saver?

Yes I have tried different screen savers before and have had the same issue. I will currently truly a different screen saver and check it again. But just for your information I nomally use the electric sheep screen saver. Thanks for the responses.

I did some research on google and found out that some screen savers revert the screen resolution to a certain value but when it comes out from screensaver mode, it doesn't switch back to your originally set resolution. I'm still looking for a fix. In the meantime:

Did you make sure you have the latest video driver? That might solve it.

Thanks for responding Arkit... yeah I just did an update for the driver yesterday and it is the most recent driver I am positive.

This is more of a workaround than a fix but here it goes:

Try this. Go into your display properties > settings tab > advanced

Then under the 'Compatibilty' category, select 'ask me before applying the new display settings'.

Hopefully, when you come back from your screen saver, you'll have the option to cancel the resolution change.

    It's a long shot but I'm trying. :(

Hahah, yeah man i tried doing that a long time ago....(kind of have been leaving off posting up this issue for awhile) that was one of the first things I tried and what happens is the resolution changes and then when I want to set it back to the normal res, it asks me if I would like to change it... Thanks for trying though, I really appreciate it!

I know, it has been awhile, but I still have the issue and it still regularly occurs... Anyone else have any thoughts? Thanks!

You said that you log in after your screen saver, so have you tried just locking the computer instead of using a screen saver?

anyways, what's the point of using screen saver on LCD (except its pretty)?
I think the best possible thing you can do to your LCD when you don't use it is to turn it off as quickly as possible...

I tend to close my lid partially so that the back light turns off if I have to leave it for a long period of time. The problem still occurs though because the computer is still displaying the screen saver even though the display is off...I do use electric sheep which seems to adjust my resolution when it turns on... Its just that it is inconsistent, like 30% of the time, the resolution changes and it really gets annoying.

I am/was (hopefully now was) having this problem, not from the screen saver, but from shutting the lid which I have to set to not suspend.

I THINK setting the display settings in Fn-F7 to LCD only as of 5 min. ago has solved my problem. Of course, if you're using an external monitor at all, this won't work for you. But I'd still go into the display schemas and see if they are set correctly for both LCD and External.

Nope, changing the display settings didn't work, but installing the latest bios (and display drivers?) did. Bios= 2.20. Display driver version = FIREGL 8.441.... There's a note in the bios update that previous version are incompatable with the video for t60p.
