Out of curiousity, I did a little searching around the lenovo site since I was eager to purchase a t60 already and noticed a large discrepancy in thier newly discounted t60's.
The ThinkPad T60 (TopSeller Model) 2623D7U is on sale for
    Sale price
    $1,999.00*
    Web Price (normal)
    $2,299.00*
While the ThinkPad T60 200764U is:
    Sale price
    $2,099.00*
    Web Price (normal)
    $2,949.00*
Yet the only difference between the two is a gig of ram. Granted ram isn't cheap, it certainly isnt that much of a difference. Does anyone know if there's another difference between them? The representative said there wasn't a monitor difference or warranty difference and all the specs on them are the same (processor, DVD drive Screen Size/quality, HD...) Did I miss something? Or has anyone else noticed this?

Where do you see it says IPS for the 14"? To my knowledge none of the 14" models offer IPS screens.

Forget it, there aren't any 14" IPS panels offered so far on the market.

Look also into the " ThinkPad T60/T60p Hardware Maintenance Manual" under " Part list --> 14.1-in. SXGA+ TFT" to get an idea who is the possible supplier for the 14" SXGA+ TFT-panels (Samsung, BOE-Hydis, TMD).

Then take a look at those TFT-panel suppliers offered notebook pc panels and their exact specs for the panel types.

    RAM + the 2623d7u comes a 9 cell battery versus 200764u with a 6 cell.
Still confused with the normal web price difference. Maybe just a market catch.

I have some very NEW and very BEAUTIFUL news that just came from Lenovo over the phone.

This 14.1" $2,949.00 web price (now on sale for $2,099.00) model IS IN FACT AN IPS SCREEN.

It is NOT MENTIONED IN THE tabook, however, on the technical specs that the sales use, IT IS IPS and they have in fact confirmed it. I made them confirm it multiple times because I was almost convinced by the people on this forum that it was a mistake.

IT IS IPS so BUY IT!

IT IS A SWEEEEET SALE AND THE ONLY 14.1" IPS SCREEN THEY CURRENTLY OFFER!

Kashton, if you ordered the notebook I hope it comes with an IPS screen. However, I have a feeling that the sales fed you a line and the notebook won't have IPS :(

    Straight from their site:

    "Display type
14.1 inch SXGA+ IPS (1400x1050) TFT Display with wide viewing angle and high density display (Standard) "

their site is known to be wrong before, and so is tech support. so until a reviewer actually has one in their hands and gets some photos of the screen, I'll be skeptical.

There is NO such thing as a 14.1" SXGA+ IPS screen. It just doesn't exist. Period.
