    Hey comrades,
I'm contemplating disassembling my brand spanking new T61 WXGA+ down to the system board and I was wondering if anyone on here has ever done it... any takers? Apparently, it requires disassembly/removal of...

    Battery pack (easy)
    Ultrabay Slim (easy)
    Hard disk drive stuff (easy)
Palm rest w/ fingerprint reader (easy)
    Keyboard (should be pretty easy)
    Modem daughter card (??)
PCI Express Mini Card for WLAN (I've seen these done before)
Keyboard Bezel (Shouldn't be that bad)
    Fan assembly (Coupla more screws?)
    SIM card slot (there's more...)
    LCD assembly (easy)
Base cover, USB sub card with cable, and PC Card slots bezel assembly (sounds like a lot)
    Structure frame (finally...)

    Anyone ever attempt this before?

No, if there's no real reason to, why would I risk breaking my laptop?

This would be for removal and replacement of a part on my laptop. The debate here isn't whether or not it's worth it though. I'm kinda particular about my machines, but unfortunately buying the laptop from the "Last Chance" list meant an unexpected surprise or two...

So could I do this without voiding my warranty?
Could a guy skilled with his hands (and who only sometimes brute-forces things when impatient or frustrated) pull this off successfully, and without voiding the warranty?

It would be easier to help you if you named the part you're replacing.

A picky person will inspect the screws to see if it's been tampered with, thus voiding your warranty.

So lenovo employs a lot of these "picky people" eh? I figured as much...

I find it hard to believe that in this community, nobody's ever taken apart their T61 completely... Speak up, be proud, even if you did destroy your laptop and void the warranty in the process...
