    Hi all,

Do I need to order some screws or something before disassembling my Thinkpad? I want to remove some dust from inside it, that has surely accumulated there, and would like to see what it is made of anyway. I have heard however that some screws used to keep the thing in one piece are single-use only. Is that true? I also have a small bag with a couple of screws that came with the machine, and I am not sure what those are for.

I will be printing the disassembly manual from Internet prior to venturing off, so that I don't poke around with the screwdriver at places I should not be poking around.

I took apart my t60 before to clean it, and i just re-used the same screws. Be careful when you store them so you dont lose any, but other than that you should be okay.

That's correct some of the screws are nylon coated and are single use only. The hardware reference manual has all the details. A package of screws can be ordered as spare parts.

Technically the screws are one use only. I've never had an issue reusing the screws, but the coatings on the end will wear after a while and need to be replaced. Paladin2 is correct, the kits can be purchased from IBM/Lenovo and they are not very expensive.
