I just noticed a dead pixel on my laptop. I know it wasn't there before since it's at the right-center of my screen. It was only when I played a video that I noticed it. I thought that dead pixels don't appear just like that and were supposed to be factory problems.

Then it disappeared just now. I have no idea why but when I moved my right speaker a bit further to the right. The speakers are small and are a good 15 inches away.

Then another one appeared before I finished writing this post. Now at the lower right center.

What you describe are stuck pixels rather than dead pixels. I've never experienced dead/stuck pixels in any of my laptops so I don't really know why they occur when they do.

You can try getting rid of them by rapidly cycling the pixel thorugh various colours or by gently massaging it with a soft cloth.

If you're getting it repeatedly and the Thinkpad is new (and still within the 30days), you may want to send it back for a replacement; not too sure if it's possible but you can try demanding a replacement.

That's so weird that this thread should appear today. Just last night I had a pixel stuck white on my T60, which was annoying in a PPT that I was working on. Anyway, then it turned to black, and finally it disappeared as of this morning. (I rubbed the spot a little last night, but I don't think that's what did it.)

There is an issue with UltraNav software on IBM machines producing what appears to be white pixels.

FWIW,on my R40, if I carefully position the pointer on the pixel, a "marker" appears. If I click the middle button on the touchpad, the white pixel goes away.

Pixels can malfunction at any time. On the screen of an older ThinkPad model I had one pixel that got stuck occasionally. Eventually it went away for good.

hehe nice one. i like that line

anyway, have your screen refreshed all the time, maybe that will help. also move images along that spot with dead pixel. maybe iit'll change. that's what i did when i noticed one in my lappy
