    Hi,

another very happy owner of a brand new T61 here!

So, in the process of tunning my system i disabled much stuff that i do not need like services, startup programs and all these (windows-specific)
I prefer doing manually some things in my system rather than have services/programs running for ever and eating my battery/processor.

So, i have some questions for the below Thinkpad-specific stuff that i need to know if i can disable or not.

So, i will really appreciate if someone with experience on that can help me!

    The Windows Services are:
    Thinkpad hdd aps logging service
    Thinkpad PM Service
    Thinkvantage registry Monitor service
    TPM Base service
    TSS Core Service
    TVT Backup Protection Service
    TVT Backup Service
    TVT Scheduler
    tvtnetwk

    And the Startup programs:
    Thinkpad EasyEject Utility
    Scheduler-proxy application
    Maintenance Manager
    Thinkvantage Productivity Center
    Message Center
    Thinkpad Power Manager
    Thinkvantage Access Connections
    Client Security Solution
    NVIDIA Driver Helper Service
NVIDIA Compatible Windows 2000 Display Driver
    BLOG

Thanks for any help on this! :)

Hi - we´re in almost the same situation ;)

Thinkpad hdd aps logging service, is used along the hdd shock protection, I don't know what exactly it´s doing, because the protection works fine with it disabled...

ThinkPad PM Service is used along the on screen display, and used to catch when the Fn+F3/F4/F12 is pressed - so if you disable that process, you won´t have those shurtcuts available

Thinkvantage registry Monitor service, I don´t know, runs fine without so far

TPM Base service is nescessary if you want to use the trusted platform module

Thinkpad Power Manager gives some added or more easily available features over the standard windows power management

TSS Core Service is used along the Client Security Solution (eg. the fingerprint reader in the browser)

TVT.... I think thats related to the Thinkvantage recovery thing - but i don´t know, havn´t installed it

    Hopes that´s helping a little
