I'm getting an annoying series of beeps when the splash screen comes up as if a key is being pressed down. I think I've got in pin-pointed to the 'W' key.

I've got ubuntu installed and tried to disable it from the terminal screen, I think I entered the command correctly (after much help from others) but I'm still getting the beeps at start-up. Another user suggested I look at something with the BIOS (I have no idea what that means).

Can anyone provide baby-steps on what I should do to disable/investigate?

    Many thx.
