I though I would post my lazy method of update. My Vista 32 was running well with many programs and except for an increasing annoying problem with the 5300 with drops. I bought the pre-release last summer ($49). I'm sure there are some programs I use occasionally that I might lose and don't have a spare day to spend reinstalling, so I didn't do the "clean" install, but I will if I have issues.
    My steps:
    1) download and install the BIOS update(6fuj34us I think).
    2) download and save the updated 5300 (6mws14ww), Switchable graphics(7vd614ww) and System update (systemupdate40-2009-10-19) software.
    3) I let my daily update happen and then just went for it.
    4) It took about 3.5 hours to install before you get to enter the serial number. Do it overnight don't set and watch. There are about 6 restarts but you don't need to be there.
5)I ran windows update next. Only one critical update.
    6) I ran the Lenovo System update with multiple installs but the switchable graphics and 5300 didn't appear on the list.
    7) I ran the switchable graphic update and 5300.

Running great and much "snappier" and I'm happy so far.
