I have been laptop shopping for the past month or so, and despite having looked at many other laptops from many other brands, I've found that the T400 and T500 are the best laptops around for my purposes and criteria.

The decision between the T400 and T500 is a lot closer though, and one of my largest concerns is the dimension difference (aka, is the T500 too big/heavy). The dimensions and weights on different websites seem to be quite different, so I was wondering what the actual dimensions of the laptops are.

Main point: If any T400 or T500 owners would post actual measured thickness (closed and open), width, height and weight of their notebook with the battery (hopefully, some of you have the 9-cell, as that is the battery I will likely get), I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

PS: if you could use millimeters, that would be even better!

Yes, I have - however, the measurements of the T500 are different on NotebookCheck and another site (forgot which one).

Sorry for the bump - but could someone please measure their T400/T500? I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'd love to help you - and I would have yesterday - but I seem to have misplaced my tape. I will definitely keep an eye out for it. I will give you a bump though ... BUMP!

You need tabook. See the sticky at the top of the board for the URL.

Ah, that's useful. Never noticed the dimensions in there before. But, the tabook still gives the thickness as a range: 30-34mm. What options would change this thickness- LED v. CCFL screen?

I'm still interested in seeing real-world measurements, though. It'd be interesting if there is a difference in thickness between the models with CCFL and LED backlit screens.

The range in thickness indicates that it has a tapered height. So the front of the notebook is thinner than the back. Variations in real-world measurements from the websites are more likely the result in the discrepancies in the measuring process (i.e. the tape they're using, whether or not they include rubber feet, etc...) and not the actual product.
