They seem to be pretty close to the same machine hardware wise
    They obviously look different

What are the key differences between the 2 laptops?

A major one for me is the screen, which one is better?

Build quality, which is more solid?

I've seen some YouTube videos if the think pad e430 where the screen Bezel pops and flexes!
Is that common or an exception?

Thanks in advance for your help/input

Double check with actual models, but as I vaguely recall. E screen opens up farther, has trackpoint and touchpad. Z has dolby sound, louder speakers (still only 2watt speakers), screen doesn't open 180degree like Thinkpads, and maybe the screen was a touch nicer. I will say the Z has a warm color temperature that I like. Not cold like the latest Toshiba satellites L/S series in the same range.

Tech spec PDF will give you more differences.

depending on the model, wifi is 2x2 antenna on the edge series. Z is oonly 1x1. Check battery and power adapter ratings, too. If you get an i7 with a small 60-65w adapter, it won't run at full speed for long because it'll exceed the max system power draw. (eg. I5 cpu alone pulls almost 56-60watts turbo'd)
