Could someone briefly describe the differences between the different Thinkpad lines? I can tell that the X series are ultraportables and the SL series is entry level, but beyond that, everything seems the same - an L512 with enough upgrades seems almost identical to a base model T510, with a similar price, too.

On the Lenovo website each model has a brief description. The short descriptons pretty much say everything.
