For those who may have tried more than one version of Win7 on your S10, did you notice any difference in performance?

For instance, I wonder if a "lighter" version like Home Premium. or even more so the "Starter" edition that comes with some netbooks, might provide better performance than the Pro version, due to less background processes and system resources used, etc.?

Anyone compared the different versions, regarding performance?

It all depends on how many functions in each that you use. Out of the box, I'm sure they're all pretty much identical, performance-wise. Once you turn on some of the more advanced features available in the Professional and Ultimate versions, RAM usage may creep up, but I'd think it's still insignificant.

The starter version is just a cheap Win 7 lite that Microsoft put out for the netbook segment or people whom can't afford the more expensive edition but still want to use Windows OS. It limits the number of apps window that you can open at the same time, i think 2 windows at a time. So for people whom needs more grunt, then they should consider the more expensive edition. But given the limited processing power of the netbook laptops, you can only go so far without seriously slowing down your netbook.

While the Win 7 Professional edition allows VT of XP when you have the VT capable CPU installed.

Aero effect will slow down your netbook.
