Is there a difference in build quality/durability/keyboards between the T and the Z series ? Or is the only difference the screen size ?

They are both very good in my opinion. The Z does seem stiffer than my T42. The new T60 is supposed to be a bit stronger, but I personally have not seen one. Keyboards on both were very good.

Not necessarily. I haven't seen a Z61, but I can vouch for the durability of the T60. There is an ever so slight bend in the T60 if you hold it by the edge with one hand, but nothing that would concern me at all. Pressing down anywhere on the laptop, including the back of the screen, produces zero flex. The whole thing feels extremely solid.

Smith2688, I'm already sold on the T series ( I have a T30), just wondering if the Z series is as solid :D

I've handled a T43 and Z60t quite a bit (and ordered a z60t). I think one is just as good as the other in terms of quality.

    I'm asking the same question...
I think the Z is only stiffer than the T43/T42 because of the Thinkpad roll cage, which Lenovo already introduced in T60/T60p. With that, I think they would be of the same build quality and durability. They just cater to different markets, with the T60 more targetted as business-class ('perfect balance of performance and portability'), and the Z series, according to Lenovo site, marketted as 'widescreen multimedia.'
I would like to think, though, that the T60 would have slightly better build quality just because it is the flagship product. But, I also think the Z61m would last longer just because it would hardly leave your desk... :)

I wrote the review for the Z61m. You could seriously hurt someone with it. I have heard the T60 is a bit stronger than the older one, but I have not seen one as of yet.

Yes, I've read your review of the Z61m. It's actually the reason why I held off from buying T60 for the mean time. Am considering Z61m just because of the widescreen... But if the need (in my work) calls for it and I become impatient, will get the T60 anytime! :)
