What is the major difference between the T41 & R50? I plan to use as a portable desktop. My experience has been with Dell(I currently have a dell 4100). Any thoughts on leasing IBM? Thanks-----------wpfly

Actually, the major differences are surprisingly few for the price difference between these notebooks. The R50 is billed as sort of a value notebook with power that lies somewhere between a desktop replacement and thin & light (it's about 7lbs travel weight i believe) while the T41 is an all out power notebook that is still thin & light and has a travel weight of about 6lbs. Both notebooks feature the Active Protection system to protect your hard drive in the case of a drop or kick of your system (stuff happens). The T41 is about 1lb lighter and thinner in its build and its base configuration probably includes a more powerful Pentium Mobile processor with a higher config of RAM.

If you're not too concerned about the physical size of the laptop, the higher-end R50's also come with higher resolutions screens than any of the T41's - 1600x1200. More importantly, they're IBM's flagship LCD - Flexview (not that I've actually seen one to be able to tell how good it really is).
