And why are both not being talk about like the x120e back in 2011???
-
I just picked up a x131e on Friday refurbished for $389 including tax. With the following specs:
Intel Core i3-3227U Processor (3M Cache, 1.90 GHz) on Mother Board
Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)
4 GB DDR3 - 1600MHz (1 DIMM)
500GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
Seems like a good deal to me. I am going to be using it to dual boot Kali, and Windows 7 for work. Also, I'm going to take the 500GB hard drive out and install an extra 120GB SSD I have laying around. The 500GB will end up in my PS3 to replace a 320GB. -
The X140e shares the X131e's chassis, with newer AMD chips. Both are not as popular as the X120e for several reasons, as far as I can tell:
- Price: The X140e and X131e are priced too high for what you get, unless you snag a good deal from the Outlet. That, and the X120e was available for a time with a price glitch that made it ~$300 starting price. Lenovo honored the glitch, and many people ended up getting a bargain.
- Weight: The X120e wasn't particularly light compared to its competitors, but the X131e made the 11.6" laptop even heavier with its bumpers and thick construction.
- More Compelling Options: The X120e pioneered AMD's Zacate platform, which performed better than Intel Atom CPUs at a similar price point and maintaining battery endurance. Since then, Intel's Atom CPUs have gotten much, much better, so AMD's processors aren't so compelling anymore.
