I'm not sure what system suits me more. What is the difference between the two? I'm looking for decent mobility, good price, good features. I only do small applications, surf, some dvd watching.

The x31 has no optical drive. So if you are planning on watching DVDs, you'll have to get an external one or get the dock. The x31 is smaller. It has a 12" screen and weighs about 3.5 pounds. The T42 has a 14" or 15" screen and weighs between five and six pounds. The x31 is a older design that comes with the Banais Pentium M. Both are very well built.
