    Hi all.

    I would like to buy T61 14" (standard screen) or T61p 14".
I know there is difference in graphic card. I have two questions:
    1. Difference in build quality ?
    2. Power consumption ? (use 6 or 9 cell battery)

I want to use the notebook for school (electrical engineering) and use it as desktop replacement (not for gaming "only sometimes realtime strategy"). I never had any notebook so I cannot compare it with another models.

    Thanks for advice

The t61 will be good for the things you said you will be doing. Anything specific you would like to know about the t61?

Has T61 the same case as T61p? I have read that ports are bad situated on T61 (widescreen). What about display? What do you recommend to buy 6 or 9 cell battery?

I have been advocating the T series in my other postings and would certainly like you to own a ThinkPad T series where applicable; but wait...

You mentioned about using your notebook "... for school ( electrical engineering)...".

Isn't there many symbols in electrical engineering that are less convenient to type ? Would it not be easier if you get a tablet-notebook instead ? With a tablet-notebook, you can write + type instead of just type only.

I would suggest you give the ThinkPad X61t or the very wonderful Fujitsu T4220 a serious thought.

A tablet-notebook may be more appropriate for your circumstances.

The widescreen notebooks have MUCH better screens compared to the 4:3 screens. I have been using my 14.1 4:3 and 15.4 widescreen back and forth and the screen on the t61p hurts my eyes using it, the contrast and viewing angles are terrible, I think lenovo used the cheapest panel they could find.
