What is the difference between the Lenovo G and Z series. They have similar spec, price, and size. So what is the big difference between the two series. Is one newer than the other?

Good question, and I agree that the models are so close in features and functionality that it's confusing to have two lines that are seemingly the same. From what I've read the Z560 is rather ho-hum in terms of design and doesn't stand out in any way from competition in the desktop replacement 15" screen category. However, it does get the job done if all you want is a no frills PC. It looks like the built-in web camera is 1.3MP and (maybe) better speaker quality than the G-series. However, the G-series is in general slightly cheaper and in my opinion the design slightly better than the Z series.

Strangely the Z-series is marketed as being a media friendly "fun" laptop while the G-series is "Essential" but the G-series actually has a better design IMHO (though still nothing to rave about). The G-series is a better seller, it has been a most popular model series on NBR for some time, and even the marketing page on Lenovo better designed and written up. I found several typos and poor information on the Z-series marketing page (no tech specs, no information on ports) so it almost feels like the Z series line is getting second fiddle marketing in the U.S. and somewhere some product managers are duplicating efforts and this is the result, two lines of products with different names but the same functionality.
