All LCD's on laptop displays are TFT. You're probably thinking of the In Plane Switching vs Twisted Nematic debate, where IPS is of much higher quality but less availability.
Unfortunately I don't think any Thinkpad comes with IPS anymore ever since switching to widescreen format. (I think the last was the T60p?)

I noticed I said that and meant to say all laptop screens use TFT.

The X201T has a couple of IPS screens. IPS generally gives you wider viewing angles, but isn't necessarily superior in all respects.

I thought the tablets used PVA screens from samsung? But nonetheless still a huge upgrade from the cheap TN screens.

Tabbook shows the X200 tablets as being IPS and the X201's as being either PVA or IPS.

No problem... how's that SSD working out for you? I'm looking to swap out the factory drive for an SSD, you've got one of my top choices in yours.

I'll never go back to a regular HDD for my main disks (on a laptop or desktop). I haven't been keeping up with all the new controllers, but my understanding is the intel g2's are still highly regarded if you get over the whole stat race for non random performance. Though I think there is a controller that has superior random performance too.

Also nice to know your drive can't physically get damaged from throwing/shaking your laptop around ;).
