Hi, I just got my T61 today.

I didn't get any discs with it. I would like to run a clean install on the computer so I can dual boot with Vista and Linux.

Can Lenovo send me a Vista CD? All the clean install guides use a Windows disc and I don't have any :(

lenovo doesnt include a vista dvd with your system. you will have to burn the recovery cd's on your own using the maintenance manager.

you can get a vista disk here for a total of $7.00.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/addlicense/howto.mspx

    It's under this section:

    "
    What you need to know
How to find your current Product ID

In Windows Vista, do one of the following:

    * Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties.

Or, if your computer is set up in Classic view with the more traditional Start menu:
    * Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then click the System icon.

You'll find your current Product ID under Windows is activated.
If you need a Windows Vista disc

Additional license orders do not necessarily include a disc. If you lost your original disc or your product came preinstalled on your computer without a Windows Vista disc, you may order a replacement or backup disc online.

    "

The word "online" is a link to order it free, $7.00 to ship.

I was under the imprsesion that the recovery discs didn't get rid of bloatware completely. I thought they restored the PC to factory settings, meaning with all the crap on it.

You are correct. However, panteedropper is telling you to use the "anytime upgrade" DVD to do a clean install. It's basically just an installation disk. You can find out exactly how to use it in my clean install guide (link in my sig)
