Please, take the poll and report how "defective" your FHD screen came from the factory. Lit sub-pixels take precedence over dead sub-pixels, since they are far more nasty. So, if you have 1 lit and 2 dead, vote as 1 lit.

Also, if you have the time, please leave a reply stating the specifics. I just wanted to get a feel for how many screens come out defective from the factory and to what level.

I bought two W520's. One for work and one for home. No stuck or bad pixels on either.

None that I've seen on mine. If there are any, I'd rather not find out either!

You may want to add T520 to the thread title as the FHD screens on the two models are identical.

I received W520 FHD with 1 dead pixel and return it. But replacement has none.

I think if you received one with 1 dead pixel, you should answer that in the poll. So far, all voters have claimed perfect screens.

I'm curious if there's a break-in period during which pixels might turn permanently on or off. Mine just came in today, and I don't see any pixel issues. Will the first few days/months be more prone to dying pixels than later?

I thought Lenovo would only accept a returned computer due to a dead pixel, was if 3 or more pixels were dead, not just one.

    Interesting !

My guess is that it was returned for other reasons, possibly other hardware issues. Lenovo has an industry-standard policy for dead pixels.

I had 2 stuck pixels and I just sent my W520 in for a new screen.

Perfect screen here. That or I haven't noticed any dead or lit pixels, which I doubt.

My W520 arrived today and I was surprised to find it has 1 lit pixel. I've never had this problem before on any of my laptops, even going back to early 2000s. I was dismayed. There's no way to return it to the store (I bought it in USA and I'm in China now) and Lenovo China a) won't replace a screen with 1 lit pixel; b) won't service computers bought in USA (yes weird but part of their weird system here). Should I just live with it? Or try contacting Lenovo China?

It'll be difficult to get Lenovo to replace a screen with one defective pixel, unless there's something else also wrong with it: even people with valid warranties in the US usually can't get this to go through.

Also, unless a Thinkpad specifically has IWS (international warranty service), purchasing a Thinkpad in one country means it has no warranty in another country, ironic as it is that all Thinkpads are made in China.
