Attempted delivery today at 10am of course no one was home. Called UPS to try to arrange for a pickup, they would not let me do it. What the hell is this? I've ordered much more expensive stuff before, never had a problem to schedule for a pickup at local UPS. I think this is Lenovo issue not theirs. I'm about to try my luck at the UPS warehouse

at least they did not leave your laptop in front of your door

I've picked up my laptop at UPS warehouse before without any problem after missing delivery since I am at work in the daytime.

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Sometimes the drivers keep it for 2 more days I think.

I found that the UPS system is pretty good at tracking packages so they do know exactly where it is (on the truck, in the warehouse etc)
You left out the detail of exactly why they wouldn't let you pick it up. -
I tried to get mine intercepted and held at will call, but UPS refused to allow me to pick it up until after a delivery attempt had been made. I was told the rules are different due to it being an international shipment...go figure.
-
That's a normal procedure. You can't pick up a package until a delivery attempt has been made. Mine was different because the lady from service call center told me that i cannot do it period due to some stupid rules on Lenovo. But whatever, I just got back from UPS and picked it up no questions ask (except for ID). Stupid people at the call center...

I called and they delivered mines the next day.

They attempted to deliver mine, was not home. They left a sticky note saying that they tried. I took the number off the sticky and asked UPS to hold. They did with no issue. When I went to pick up my package all I had to do was show them ID. The women I spoke to from UPS to hold the package said that Lenovo is very strict about their terms of delivery(more so than other companies). They must get a delivery with ID and signature, they will not leave the package in front of your home even if you sign a waver dismissing the driver from responsibility.
I think this is actually a good thing as it cuts down on a lot of easy thefts. -
I agree with you on that & I think UPS should do the same for every package. What I didn't understand is why I was told that the package had to be delivered rather than being picked up. When you go to UPS to pick up a package, they ask for a photo ID & a signature. They even write down your drivers license number. So what difference does it make if it's picked up on location or not? And the fact that I was able to go there & pick up the package after being told I couldn't proved that it really depends on who you talk to from UPS. Anyway, I don't know why I'm still complaining I got my Lenovo, that's all it matters.

You are right. I don't know why the person on the phone told you what they did even though you were able to pick up the package. Wouldn't be the first time talking to someone who didn't know what was going on...
Enjoy your machine. -
Googled this post. Had the same issue today.
Called UPS's 800 number to arrange pick up after a failed delivery attempt, but was declined because lenovo had some stupid contract with them such that they weren't allowed to hold the package.
Went to local warehouse and was told by an unhelpful staff I need to call 800 to hold the package first. What the hell...
Now I need to stand in front of my apartment's security door on Monday for hours to wait for the truck driver..! -
Strange, since I missed my first delivery attempt by maybe an hour, called them up and met the UPS driver that day at some random location in town
Did you have this issue with picking up your Lenovo from UPS?
