Did they ever manage to hack the x230 BIOS to use the x220 keyboard?

I saw some internet forums from 2011/2012 where several people were trying to modify the x230 BIOS to accept hacks for the x220 keyboard, but I never saw any results.

Does anyone know if they were successful in the end with fully mapping a x220 keyboard to an x230?

    Well...the way I see it:

The "real life" worth of upgrading from *20 to *30 series on hardware level is slim, and it's physically impossible to hook up the *20 keyboard on a current *40 machine...so I guess that the amount of work involved in such a mod is way too high for an insignificant performance gain...

Sorry but i disagree when you say difference between 20" & 30" hardware are slim.. Not that much i think!

You're definitely entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine. However...

What either of us thinks makes zero difference since none of us knows how to hack the BIOS on *30 series to accept the older keyboards...

not to start a debate, but the CPU performance is very similar, if not an ssd can negate that, and usb 3.0 is available in the x220 i7 model, other than that, IGP is significantly better in the x230 but if you care about graphics, i don't think you would be really after an x series from lenovo, battery life is also very similar, in my opinion, the keyboard is way more important than the igp..i would take an x220 over the x230 anyday and isn't really even worth considering this type of mod..

*30 series have faster processor clock dan almost double intel igp, also usb 3.0. Those do worth the upgrade I think.

Well, how about a kickstarter project to pay lenovo to provide the bios then?
