I built the same configuration using the Students and Alumni option and it looks like the price wentup by $100 or so.

    I ordered mine:
    1440x900 LED + Cam
    Bluetooth
    7-1 Media Card Reader
    6 Cell Battery
    (everything else stock)

    I paid $769.90. (720 or so + $49 tax)

It looks like now it's around $820-830 without tax.

Their prices change, and they do "special promotion" every week.

Promotions can come in the form of coupon, or something like "$500 of T-series" wihtout coupon, or something like free hard drive upgrade on certain model, etc.

If you go to lenovo.com today, the first banner says "Save up to $675 on selected Thinkpads. Sale ends Wednesday" and that basically means that they will change their prices together with another set of promotions after Wednesday.
