According to the parts list and the FRU # for my laptop, I should have gotten 39T5578, which according to eBay and various sites is an AR5006EX. However, using Everest Ultimate Edition on my laptop, it says I have a AR5001X+. Is Everest wrong? Is there another way to identify which Atheros chipset I have?

I doubt that Everest would be wrong, though I'm not sure how it sources the information for parts. It's pretty easy to open up the laptop and find the Mini PCI slot where the wireless chipset would be and look. The AR5001X is older so you'd probably want to make sure they didn't just slip in something else because they ran out of the AR5006EX.

Well I believe Everest reads off the driver. The funny thing is that the AR5211.SYS driver that was released in the latest wireless driver update says "Driver for Atheros AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter".
I dont really want to open up the laptop at all, but I am just wondering if anyone knows of any hardware identification tool that would give me any info about it. Because I've tried looking online based upon the hardware/vendor IDs that are listed on the details tab.
Did Lenovo mess up on my wireless card?
