Yesterday I installed a BIOS update and other updates on my Windows Vista T61. When it booted it up it loaded the wallpaper and the Vista bar but would not load all the applications and it froze. I tried doing system restores and nothing worked. I then used a recovery disk and went down to XP. Now it works perfectly fine. Did I mess up my BIOS or is it fine?

If you messed with BIOS,it won't even boot.Seems like some system files were corrupted and not BIOS.

If it loads then it shouldn't be a bios problem. Try installing Vista again.

EDIT: Damn you, Rambo! Your arrows are fast.

It was probably the updates that messed up my computer? After all when I went back to the time the updates where not installed it worked fine. So my BIOS is fine right? It updated and it says that it is the latest version.

Then it's the updates, yes. If you have the time or are bored enough, you could install the updates one by one to isolate the problem one.

So if my Recovery disk of XP from Vista works perfectly fine it's impossible it's the BIOS right?

If it's ANYTHING to do with the Bios, your laptop won't even be able to be switched on. Like when you pressed the on/off, nothing happens. The fact that an OS can load means the Bios is fine.
