Is there any way to tell through a menu or sticker or somewhere if a certain 15 inch screen is IPS / Flexview or not? If it's sxga+ or uxga does it necessarily mean IPS?
I,m hoping to get a refurbished / used T4x and want it confirmed to be a Flexview screen before i buy it.
I am guessing that the monitor tell-tale sign of black on the screen looking purple when viewed at a wide angle is there but i want something more concrete than that before purchasing sight-unseen.
Thanks.

You should be able to take the model number and serial and look it up on the Lenovo website to see if it uses an IPS panel. SXGA+ or UXGA itself doesn't mean it's IPS. The IPS only came in the SXGA+ model I believe but I don't know. You can easily tell if it's IPS or a regular TN panel though as soon as you turn it on because the colors are brighter and more vibrant and true. I use a Dell 2007wfp with my T60 widescreen because it uses a TN panel and TN is only 6-bit with dithering which means simply it's not going to be a good choice for graphics work since the colors may not look the same on a true 8-bit panel.

Thanks BG101!
I was wondering if the links in the great sticky in this forum work for older models and also show IPS / Flexview? For example, is someone has a T42 with a flexview and they enter their model and serial number into the required spaces from this link
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/s...=/partslookup/partsLookup.vm&sitestyle=lenovo
does it show that they have the flexview? -
If it is the FlexView it will say IPS.

OK thanks.
I wasn't sure if the parts list only went as far back as the first link in your sticky which doesn't show the T42.
Great resource - thanks for your help, again, ZaZ.
