    Does anyone know what is the utility of the two small openings shown in the picture?

    If you closely when you close the lid, you'll see two notches line up with the two openings. I think it's there to keep the lid from wobbling.

    On my 15.4 WUXGA there are two on the side as well -- same purpose. Stops shifts in the clamshell while closed.
