sadly my x200 doesn't turn on at all, and I still trying to figure out why.

Just in case: do you repair at local service providers or send you notebook to Lenovo? the computer is still in warranty.

have you tried to take out the ram, and start the laptop without the ram?

Also, which country are you in? in USA the most basic warranty coverage is you take the laptop to the depot.

    Will try that.

US. isn't there an option of mailing it, if it's in warranty? trying to locate my nearest depot.

no luck with taking out the ram. what bothers me is that it doesn't turn on with only the battery (40% charged) and doesn't even turn on the AC green light when connected to power.

usual turnaround time is 3 to 5 working days, it could shorter or longer depending on parts availability and repair queue.

Well guys something strange is going around here. I've closed on a working laptop on friday evening. came on saturadya evening and opened it up. no response. When connected to AC, nothing lit on. so not on battery and I've left it half charged.
I've asked some advice in the forum here.

Contacted Lenovo and they told me to press 5 times on the on/off switch and then hold it for another minute when the computer is unplugged. didn't helped. I've asked them to send me a shipping box home.

i've left the computer unplugged for another 2 hours. came to it now and it works!!! I don't know how this could happen. anyone had similar experience?

Probably a build up of static electricity. This is a common problem with the thinkpads.

maybe it is common in other laptops too, but i haven't owned that many other laptops to find out.

But this problem has been in Thinkpads since the T30 days.. maybe longer.

So, when something like this happens, what is the solution aside from sending it back to Lenovo for service? Anything the user can do at his/her end?

try to discharge the static buildup by removing the batt and ac adapter, then press the start button 10 times in 30 secs succession. If that don't work then you would need to seek warranty support.

Is this static build up or just capcitors that aren't draining? Though I can't say I ever experienced this on a Thinkpad.

I've seen this on a lot of different laptops so it isn't limited to thinkpads.
