Looks like they are gunning for Lenovo's market...
They come out on August 5th too!

I will take a look at reviews for both and decide which to get in a week's time. Does anyone think they may consider one of these over the upcoming Lenovo notebooks?

I'm very interested to hear about pricing for the E4200 and E4300. I love my D430, but the E series may offer enough extra for me to consider trading it in. -
This is distilled from an email from Dell and seems to be confirmerd here:

Dell's roadmap has the larger laptops hitting in August, with the 12 and 13-inchers showing up in September. Unfortunately, it looks like the XT2 is getting pushed out to January of next year, but it can't all be roses. Check out the gallery for all the sordid details.

The only thing really bugging me is that there is absolutely NO pricing info yet. -
A couple pretty pictures don't make a good notebook, though I'd agree the E series do look pretty good on paper. The devil is in the details. If the E4300 can offer a 13" WXGA+ screen that comes in at a decent price, they'll have a pretty compelling product on their hands.

I am exciting to see this new E-series, seems like theres alot of buzz around it come Aug.5

The 13.3" looks very appealing (the 12.1 incher is still too underpowered to compete with the X200 IMO) but unless I am mistaken neither of these smaller models support Displayport, which is something I was really hoping for after learning that Lenovo is not supporting it on the X200. Fortunately, the 14.1 incher does have DP while Lenovo forces me to go all the way up to 15.4" if I want that feature.
In any case, it seems as if Lenovo has some serious competition in these notebooks. Latitude series Dells have always been pretty sturdy and if they can remain so while having these nice "luxury" features such as ultra bright screens (this might just be the ATG model though) and backlit keyboards, it would be a wonderful thing for business notebook buyers. -
I'm am considering the E6400 because it will offer DisplayPort, which is sadly lacking on the T400 that still only has VGA (really, what was Lenovo thinking?). Still, those pictures of the new E's don't look half as nice as the ones leaked on Engadget a few months back, and the Thinkpad's still look better.
I wonder what the difference between battery life will be between the two series'. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the D series has better battery life than the current T61 series. I wonder if this will stay the same... -

I know its frivolous, but the look of the current D series has kept me from considering a Dell too seriously. It makes me appreciate the quality and aesthetics of the Thinkpads.
If only Dell could make a clone of the XPS line that was as sturdy as their business line... -
They look like Dell Thinkpads .. 12" 2.2 lbs sounds interesting though.

Dell E series will have esata port too. A shame the new Lenovo T series won't.
Wonder what discrete graphics card options Dell will offer with the E series.
