Is it safe to delete the driver folders (DRIVERS, I386a IBMSHARE, IBMTOOLS, SUPPORT) in a Z60m? I believe there's a hidden partition that has the same drivers when doing a factory reset.

I hope I'm not giving you bad advice, but YES I believe deleting the DRIVERS folder is OK. I've done it many times on different machines. I'm not sure why the folder hangs around with the unpacked drivers sitting in it.

You are correct that the restore partition is separate from the DRIVERS folder.

I've been halted at IBMTOOLS and it was exhibiting an "Access Denied" warning so I unchecked the Read Only tick. That didn't work. Next, I deleted the subfolders. It worked until I reached the "utils" folder. It indicated that ibmprc.exe is being used and it is being used according to the Task Manager > Properties.

I think I'm missing something here. I believe that those folders were only for installation purposes. How come ibmprc.exe is in use?

Make a copy of it before you delete it. It contains a copy of all the applications and drivers installed on your ThinkPad. They may come in handy at some point.

I always thought i386 was windows related.

Will the Lenovo automatic update still work after deletin the folders? I assumed those folders enabled it to determine the version of drivers/software installed on the machine
