Sure, why not? I only originally ordered on 5/22.

So my 7/12 rebooking done by a rep, not myself, scheduled to ship 8/1, has now been pushed back today to 9/17.

If I had known this crap was going to happen I would've just bought an HP consumer line back in October of last year. What is going on with that stupid company?

It's not the hdd. It's 60gb (bought my own). It CAN'T be the WXGA+ lcd, because people ordering them after me have gotten them.

I haven't called more than a couple times back in early june. I'm not harrassing my rep. What do I have to do to get a stupid machine from this company?

If it truly is delayed I'm just going to run to micro center and buy some stupid piece of crap Acer or something just so I have a machine at all!

Does anyone have any recs on what the cheapest, most decent computer you can buy is? I was spending 1400 at lenovo, but I just want SOMETHING to get me by, so I'm looking at about the best $500 I can spend, today, after work.

Toshiba has a 15", though I wanted 14, for 479. I'll live, but any other options out there? Lenovo is by far the worst company I've ever dealt with with regards to throwing that much money at them and receiving jack crap

Have you considered the Dell Latitude instead of getting the ThinkPad?

Yeah, but it's a bit more expensive for the same thing. And honestly I've never liked dell's build quality compared to lenovo's but maybe the fact that Dell doesn't have retarded monkeys signing orders with their own feces might lead me in that direction.

And I'm sure if I get the same monitor I wanted it'll delay it still...

and $98 to get ONE 1GB dimm? I can get 2 for 80.

Honestly - call and cancel the order. I ordered on 6/1, was only delivered after I called numerous times and reamed one of the reps (delivered on July 25). The unit delivered to me doesn't even LIE FLAT ON A SURFACE. I called to ask what they could do, the only options are return and rebook (and pay more -- I bought it during Memorial Day sale), or return and get whatever they have in stock - in all cases, I have to pay the price difference. No dice.

I've been with ThinkPad forever; I have an X31 and an X60. The X31 is great, stable, well built, uses real (not plastic) screws. The X60 has held up well, but this X61 is just a joke.

Seriously: do yourself a favor and get a Macbook. I know that sounds like heresy (and I never thought I'd say it), but after Lenovo's horrendous customer service, poor build quality, and the generally bad taste left in my mouth, I'm ready to move away from them for good. And Apple seems to be the way to go.

Me too man - Dell/Gateway build quality just seems inferior to Thinkpads. So I THOUGHT. The new Lenovos are no different than Dells, Gateways - the only thing they have going for them is that they have the same form factor from when ThinkPad =ed quality.

Sorry, I'll never get a macbook.

If I wanted Macbook technology for $1200 (need that dvd burner and ram) I'll buy an HP 2000 for $700 and go to a strip club and liquor with the leftover $500, because in the end I'd have the same computer.

The dell's definitely looking ok, I can get just about the same computer for 300 less, but I'm still thinking of just getting a $450 acer.

Even if it craps itself, I've only spent 450 and in a years' time I can probably get the same computer I tried to buy in May for 1000 instead of the 1400 I'm paying now.

Yup, Macbooks are absolutely overpriced and not the way to go for a ThinkPad alternative.

So you ordered 5/22? I ordered 5/24 and I received mine a month ago. Why don't you just cancel your order and make a new one. New orders have been shipping smoothly.

If you insist on getting a temporary laptop, there's a $300 + $69 shipping deal at Office Depot for a Compaq C500T with a Celeron M 520 (1.6 GHz) that you can consider. You have to order in-store though.

I don't see how you waited this long in the first place.

And don't get a Mac. I went through 3 Macbook Pros in three weeks before giving up and ordering a T61. Putting aside from the screen issues I had with the Mac, I don't see what the big deal was. The keyboard felt like junk and the build quality was kind of shoddy. Just my opinion, though.

vaw: yeah, I know, but it's rediculous because people ordering 10 days after me have gotten their machines.

playmaker: I've already rebooked it on 7/12 and people ordering 7/22 have gotten theirs (with the same lcd specs). It's just rediculous. Thanks for the tip on the compaq

NO, you don't have them in stock (yes, I just called)

Also, your pricing is $600 MORE than the one I have on order from Lenovo. $2100 for a decked out T61p T7700, etc. CDW $27xx

Feel free to PM me for a tel if you think you can match Lenovo's price and ship the darn thing. If you can, I'll switch.

Hmmm....you're making me nervous. I've heard people who order the WXGA+ just a few days before me and they've got them. I ordered 7/25 and my ESD is 9/10!!

I'm hoping it will be like the others promised in late august and ship way early, but now I'm getting worried. I do have a Fujitsu that still works, but it is on its last legs....you can just tell sometimes.

Now I'm worried instead of getting it early its gonna get pushed out.

No, not a rebook. Cancel, get confirmation, and then reorder. There's no way that won't work, unless Lenovo has something personal against you.

At any rate, they're bringing up my order specifically to a conference call meeting with shipping peeps.

Uh, right. It's not like the Mac OS can now claim to be a true Unix.

    http://borniet.2b-media.be/blog/?p=45

Much as I hate to admit it, Apple makes good, stable products, and generally delivers them on time. Even John Dvorak, cantankerous mac-hater that he is, admits it. ( http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2162397,00.asp)

Well, it's made by people in this country where I end up buying it, so it's fine. And most of the stuff here isn't really Chinese food :) Westernized Asian cuisine doesn't count as Chinese food. Breaded and fried meats? haha yeah right, that's from china my bullocks

I had to delete a bunch of comments, let's not bash China, Lenovo has shared headquarters in Raleigh North Carolina (USA) and China. It's as much American as Chinese in terms of product design and logistics. In fact, the people in charge of the supply logistics are American, the head of supply is based in Singapore and his name is Gerry Smith. He was hired from Dell recently

Actually, we do make fried foods. It's not like you guys invented it or something. And real Chinese food from China is loads better than the stuff here.

vaw: I think it's the same specs, not like I can check anymore. I got a pricing break on the warranty, but now they offer that as standard. It's about the same price as the current deals, which is about 80 less than I was going to pay before.

And I was already going to get a free battery, if they even bother doing that, so I'm getting exactly nothing special by getting shafted.

At this point I'd love to get a dell but I highly doubt they'd have much better luck with the lcds
