I ordered my R61 at the beginning of October (10/2) and the estimated ship date is 10/19. I read in another thread that if they miss their estimated ship date, you can call and complain to receive a 10% discount off your order, OR 10% discount worth of accessories. From anyone's experience, is this true? To be honest I would prefer it if they had just shipped it the first week (at this rate I feel like I'll be like one of those people that are waiting months for a Lenovo Thinkpad), but getting an extra discount wouldn't hurt if we're already forced to wait.

Your estimated ship date hasn't event passed yet and you are talking about complaining?

It is an "estimated" ship date anyways, its not guaranteed. You aren't going to get compensation for a delay of a couple days. If its weeks or months than its a different story, and you might get something.

Agreed. Wait until you completely pass your ESD before picking up the phone to dig for perks. After the horrendous delays (and almost mandatory compensation offered) on the WUXGA T61p, most supervisors or managers won't be too sympathetic to hand out goodies to people who almost passed their ESD.

I'm not scheming and I think I'm being misunderstood. I'm just curious what the policy is for delayed shipments. I wasn't planning to demand discounts right now, just in the event that it is delayed if there are any official policies that benefit the consumer. No offense, but the threads are littered with many people whose estimated ship date came and went and was pushed back continuously.

Not everyone will logon to the web to let the world know their laptop shipped. On the other hand once something goes wrong they want everyone to know. I guess tomorrow is the moment of truth for you though :p

I order my T61p on 9/26. Web site said it would ship 10/15. 10/16 web site updates and says it will ship 11/15. Called Lenovo Order Status or whatever they are called. Screen backordered. Called sales directly, went through the motions to buy the exact same T61p and asked if there was anything that would delay the shipment and they put me on hold then came back and said no, all parts were readily available and system would ship within 2 weeks. Called Lenovo Order Status folk again and asked them why sales says parts are available and they promptly tell me sales people don't know anything and just take orders.....nice.....not sure I can wait until 11/15 for the laptop. Guess we'll see. This may be my first and LAST time ever dealing with Lenovo. The Order folks were just downright rude......
